Biographies of Associates of Viodi

The following lists some of the team members that have assisted Viodi and its clients in their quest for first class video services.

Roger Bindl - roger.bindl at viodi.com

Roger Bindl writes articles and produces videos for the Viodi View. His background as a telecom and media professional with experience in most aspects of Telco TV and various areas of video and multi-media development, gives him a unique perspective that he regularly shares with the Viodi View readers.

He has engineering and marketing/sales background with telecom access, fiber-optics, ATM, IP, VOD, and transport facilities. This includes 32 years in the industry on the telco side, and equipment vendor side, with companies such as GTE, Alcatel, Next Level Communications, and vendors in the VOD and video encoding arena.

His media works include films shown at the Wis-Kino film festival, and submitted to the 2005 Wisconsin Film Festival. Additional he has produced multimedia CD's and interactive on-line projects in the medical field (Statox Photo's multimedia); career (Occupational Guidance the Electronic version), and information data (Directory Industry Buyers Guide).

Roger has been active speaking at industry/professional conferences and writing about Telco TV, media development, multimedia software, and technologies since 1990. He has volunteered with, spoke for, and/or been published at Bits and PC's, Desktop Journal, NTCA, OPASTCO, RICA, IEC, SAM Publishing, USTA, and WSTA.

Kurt Iverson - kurt.iverson at viodi.com

Multimedia Designer, Kurt Iverson, has spent over ten years designing and producing multimedia content for a variety of industries. From small telecom startups to large corporations such as SBC Datacomm, Kurt has brought a wide range of expertises to the table, including: video production, graphic design, audio design/production, CD-ROM development, animation, corporate identity, print design, live event design, web design and development, and music composition. Peter Lowten - [email protected]

Peter Lowten writes articles for the Viodi View regarding how technology impacts the decisions that independent telcos must make in order to remain competitive with established providers and new competitors. Mr. Lowten has over twenty five years of experience in management and senior operational roles in an extensive range of technology, communications and media companies. Prior to his work with Viodi, he held a number of senior positions with Ericsson Telecoms AB in the USA and Sweden. Some of his accomplishments there include project and program management of a number of leading edge video on demand and streamed video projects - combining the talents of a variety of partners; also building and driving a worldwide three year initiative in the marketing of high speed wireless data services, including video over GPRS and third generation infrastructures.

He has previously served as Vice President of Marketing and Engineering for Quanta Corporation, as Manager of Product Management for Sony Broadcast, Operations Manager for Compression Labs Inc during their IPO, and as Senior Consultant with Pixel Consulting on projects as varied as teleconferencing infrastructure for the European Economic Community and the entry of a microwave manufacturer into the digital video transmission business.

His experience in the video and compression industries, and with a broad array of players from manufacturers to service providers gives him a wide-ranging perspective of the opportunities and challenges that face the business today. This combined with his product marketing, sound technical background– he has an Honours Degree in Engineering from Oxford University – and business-oriented approach offer a unique set of skills to help Telecommunication Companies successfully offer broadband services.

Jane Pyle - [email protected]

Jane Pyle brings a diverse set of administration skills including a background in finance of increasing responsibilities at the Raychem corporation that culminated in the role of controller for the Interconnect Devices division. Later, she started and built a successful financial advising practice in association with American Express Financial Advisors. She sold that practice in the year 2000 after the birth of her second son.

Never one to be inactive, she has been an active participant and board member in the Las Madres mother's group, as well as her sons' parent participation preschool. Her organization skills have proved valuable, as she created and implemented a highly regarded speaker series for Las Madres.

As an officer of Viodi, she is involved with all of the administrative tasks associated with Viodi's various projects. This native Cheese-head (a person who hails from the great state of Wisconsin) has a Masters in Business Administration from the Loyola University of Chicago and a Bachelors in Science of Economics from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Ken Pyle - [email protected]

Ken Pyle is co-founder of Viodi, LLC and is Managing Editor of the Viodi View, an online newsletter with a focus on independent telcos and their efforts to offer video services. He produced the Video Solutions for Independence interactive CD-ROM, edited and produced interactive CD-ROMs for organizations such as NTCA and is the co-producer of the IP Video Conference series in conjunction with USTA and is producer of Viodi’s Local Content Workshop.

Additionally, he has been intimately involved with all of Viodi’s clients. He created Digital Rights Management Reports that were approved by studios for several clients. He created processes for clients to use for their PPV and VOD operations. He has long standing relationships with service vendors such as Technicolor and Microspace, as well as many telecommunication manufacturers.

Prior to Viodi, LLC, Pyle was Director of Technical Sales for Demand Video, a Video On Demand application service provider which targeted cable television overbuilders. His independent telco experience dates to 1991 with product, project and sales management roles at Raynet and E/O Networks. His experience in the cable industry dates to 1979 with manufacturing, engineering and field service roles at companies such as Catel and C-Cor.

A graduate of San Jose State University, he is the volunteer web master for his sons’ preschool, http://www.cppp.com and is an active member of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Saratoga, CA, serving on the Church Council.

Brian Stevenson - [email protected]

Brian Stevenson writes articles for the Viodi View regarding content providers and the impact their offerings have on the programming choices available to Independent Telcos. Mr. Stevenson brings over 16 years of interactive and program acquisition experience. Most recently, Mr. Stevenson was responsible for directing all aspects of program film acquisition, contract negotiations, interactive production, budgeting, and new business opportunities for Video On Demand service provider DemandVideo as well as similar posts with VOD hotel pioneer On Command and Comsat.

Brian helps Viodi clients with their entertainment, educational and advertising acquistion needs. Brian holds a BA in Communications from the University of Arizona.
